Course Description:

Health and Nutrition Project/Program Planning and Management (HNPPM) course provides an overview of the whole continuum of leadership and management with emphasis on project management. It is centered on attitude change and relationship enhancement. It is also intended to provide the basics as well as practical knowledge concerning planning, leading, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others and uses communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organizational objectives. The participants’ competencies will be enhanced through different practical workshops such as leadership lifeline; plenary, group dynamics oriented program, case analysis, problem identification, decision-making and prioritization, project planning and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and is heavy on experience-based learning and sharing. The structure of this 3-week course includes the following components:

  • Week-1: the course focuses on project planning using Objective Oriented Project Planning (OOPP) method
  • Week-2: the course covers aspect of the management, including leadership, communication, organizing, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Week-3: the course centers around hands on experience in managing a project based on a given case study.

Course Objective:

  1. Review the concepts, definitions, principles and functions of management of health and nutrition project/program
  2. Assess and select proper management principles for the management of health and nutrition project/program in a given situation
  3. Review the concepts and methods in planning health and nutrition project/program
  4. Develop a health and nutrition project planning based on a given case study
  5. Experience hands-on activities on managing real situation
